Alaric Lynch

As we stand at the threshold of a new chapter in our nation’s history, I am honored to introduce myself as a candidate committed to restoring the economic, cultural, and social heritage of our beautiful country. My name is Alaric ‘Jahred’ Lynch, a political activist with over 20 years of experience. Having previously run as an independent candidate twice, I now see the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) as the strongest, most experienced, and confident team to work with in pushing our beloved Montserrat forward. Together, we aim to secure the next generation’s future, leading this country towards self-determination, which has been our ancestors’ ultimate goal.
With a background in agriculture, I firmly believe that this sector must play a central role in planning our future development and reducing the high cost of living. It is the duty of all to apply their mental and physical skills, as without agricultural expansion, industrial growth is impossible. The development of agriculture is an essential precondition for the growth of industry in our country.
My experience as a political activist combined with my knowledge of agriculture has shown me the importance of community development. The fundamental purpose of community development is to teach people that with a united, cooperative, and self-help approach to common problems, the vast potential for their own self-improvement can be translated into effective programs that can significantly improve our standard of living.
As your representative, I see the advantages of focusing on the agricultural sector and the untapped natural resources available to us. We must concentrate increasingly on agriculture, as it holds the greatest hope for expanding the revenue that the government of Montserrat can use to finance the nation’s development. Unfortunately, our current government lacks creativity in identifying resources available to them to generate economic revenue, relying instead on heavy taxation.
My fellow Montserratians, the ultimate resource of a nation is its people. Unless this resource is employed for the benefit of the nation, unless the latent good which it represents is exploited to the maximum for the common good, the nation will languish, poor in spirit and lacking in achievement. This describes our current situation here in Montserrat. We must be assured of minimum economic security and concern ourselves with matters beyond the day-to-day satisfaction of our physical needs. Only when we are fed, clothed, and sheltered can we acquire the social consciousness needed to support our own individual interests and the nation’s development.
As a political activist, I, Alaric Lynch, pledge my life to you. As a son of the soil, I intend to fight for your fundamental human rights and freedoms. From truth alone is born liberty, and only an educated people can consider itself truly free and master of its fate. It is only with an educated populace that representative and democratic organizations of government can exercise their influence for national progress.
Remember, vote for Team PDM as the best choice for moving this country forward for us and future generations.
