Jermaine J. Wade is a dynamic and influential Monsterratian citizen who hails from the village of Trials and is known for his vibrant leadership and commitment to community service. An alumnus of Plymouth Primary and Montserrat Secondary Schools, Jermaine has pursed and completed numerous professional certifications, and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science.
‘FABULOUS’ as he is affectionately known, given his infectious and flamboyant personality has made a significant impact in Montserrat’s political and social landscape.
Jermaine’s political journey began early when he was elected as the youngest member of the Legislative Assembly at age 24. His leadership potential was honed through various regional roles, including serving as a CARICOM Youth Ambassador, United Nations Global Youth Spokesperson, Vice President of the National Youth Council, President of the Rotaract Club, and Chief Minister in the National Youth Parliament.
His transition into formal politics was marked by his candidacy in the 2009 General Elections, where he captured the electorate’s imagination with his charisma and commitment to service. Elected as a member of the MCAP Administration, Jermaine was appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Health, Community Services, Youth Affairs, Sports, and Culture.
During his tenure from 2009 to 2014, Jermaine was known for his enthusiastic approach and accomplishments, including the establishment of Montserrat’s first indoor Multipurpose Sports Complex, the National Honours & Awards, the 50th Anniversary Festival “FESTIVAL 50,” the HYPE youth programme, and advancements in motor sports. He also secured formal sports partnerships with Antigua & Barbuda and Nevis.
Following a challenging period in the 2014 elections and the resignation of his mentor, Rueben T. Meade, Jermaine ran as an independent candidate in the 2017 Bi-elections, demonstrating continued strong support despite not securing a seat. He co-founded the Montserrat United Labour Party (MULP) in 2017 and campaigned in the 2019 General Elections, driven by his unyielding dedication to service and representation.
Jermaine J. Wade remains a steadfast advocate for progress and community development, guided by his core principle of “Service Above Self.”
Jermaine is the founder and CEO of Fabulous Enterprises Ltd, a tourism and destination enterprise which provides authentic and immersive experiences in Montserrat.
